About Community Hub

What this is

Community Hub is a free directory and events listing for community groups — sports clubs, Tidy Towns committees, Men's and Women's Sheds, active retirement groups, youth groups, family resource centres, residents' associations, and more. The aim is simple: one place where anyone can find out what's happening near them and how to get involved, and where a group can be found without needing a website or social media presence of its own.

Who it's for

Anyone looking for a group to join, an event to attend, or funding to apply for — and every community and voluntary group in the area, whether they're a long-established club or a handful of neighbours just getting something started. Listing a group costs nothing.

How listings work

Every group, event, and notice is reviewed before it goes live, to keep the directory accurate and free of spam. Groups manage their own listing once approved — updating details, adding events, posting notices — without needing to ask anyone. If a group is already listed but hasn't claimed it yet, they can do so directly from the listing itself.

Where the data comes from

Some listings were added directly by the groups themselves. Others were added using publicly available information — local authority grant records, existing directories, and similar sources — as a starting point, so a group doesn't have to discover the site before it can be found on it. If a group sees a listing for itself that's incomplete or incorrect, claiming it takes a couple of minutes and puts them in full control of what it says.

Currently in pilot

Community Hub is starting out focused on County Carlow, to get the directory genuinely useful for one area before expanding further. If you'd like to see your county added, or you run a group and want to get properly listed, get in touch.
